Restore and Rebuild

The Restore & Rebuild Project provides the repairs and reconstruction of homes destroyed by Hurricane Irma on the island of Barbuda. For home with repaired or replaced roofs, BFM Mission teams can accomplish a complete interior renovation in just one week!

  • On September 5, 2017, Barbuda took a direct hit from Hurricane Irma which produced Category 5+ sustained winds of 225mph.

    • 90% of all homes on the island were completely decimated. The resilient people of Barbuda knew in their hearts it would take years and miracles to rebuild their homes and their lives.

  • With each hurricane season, tension builds, fears arise and safety is at risk.

    • Countless families are continuing to endure unhealthy living conditions in barely functional homes and many are still living in shredded tents! A multitude of houses need restoring and numerous families are still without power and water.

  • Barbuda 180 Teams work together with each family as the renovation project is completed.

    • Involving the homeowner in the renovation encourages ownership of the project and allows them to make moderate color and design decisions as their home is restored. Throughout the duration of the project, the Mission Team forms an inseparable bond of friendship with the family they are helping.

  • The cost for each project averages $5,000 per home.

    • This cost includes (but is not limited to) supplying fully functional tiled kitchens and bathrooms, interior and exterior doors, windows when needed, interior paint, plumbing, electrical and rain guttersfor much needed water collection.

Opportunities to take part in this project include giving financially as well as signing up to be part of a BFM Barbuda 180 Mission Team.
