CONTENTMENT…

When I’m away from My Donnie my heart longs to be home with him, sitting in our lounge chairs watching the sunset . . . Oh who am I kidding?! When we’re home together not once have we ever sat in our lounge chairs and watched the sunset LOL! However, we have definitely watched many a gorgeous sunset on our Plake, but not in our lounge chairs as this picture depicts. Sometimes social media posts appear to be something that they’re not; sometimes they make us want what someone else appears to have. This brings to mind three things I’ve read.

The first cuts right to the chase!

Proverbs 14:30 A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

The second one warns that NOT money itself, but the “love” of money can cause us big problems!

1 Tim 6:6,7&10 But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it …For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

There’s not a thing wrong with having great wealth, but there is a lot wrong with being jealous of those who have it and not content with what we have. I know for a fact, there are many people who appear to live a life of great wealth and what they actually have is great debt! We must be oh so very careful to not long for what someone else has, because in all actuality, they could very possibly want what you have instead.

The third is a powerful Truth that if we grasp and apply to our current circumstances, (whatever they may be) not worrying about tomorrow; we will have an encompassing peace. And feeling at peace is SO much better living with anxiety!

Phil 4:11-13 …for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

God always has a reason for allowing us to go through trials of many kinds, because the testing of our faith, that produces perseverance and perseverance must finish its work, so that we are made mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:3-4

My prayer over every person who reads this is for you to not just read and agree, but that you will choose to believe and apply these truths from Scripture I’ve shared.

May the peace of God that transcends all understanding guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.

In His Love and mine,

Bonnie
