Why Was This Project Selected?
Claudette Beazer has been a friend to BFM for nearly 7 years. When we first started our ministry on Barbuda, Claudette heard about us and sought us out. We were looking to pursue new friendships and Claudette pursued us! When BFM started bringing mission teams to Barbuda, the need to find someone to cook meals for us arose, and Claudette was among the first to step up. Over the years Claudette has continued to feed our teams, cooking simply delicious meals made with her special ingredient, LOVE.
Every team that comes has fallen in love with our Claudette, and she has become like family to us all. As we have grown to know her, we have learned that she is in a very unhealthy marriage. I’ve never met a more faithful, Godly wife who serves and honors her husband no matter what he does and continually prays for her marriage to be healed and healthy. The cry of her heart was for her husband to be saved, delivered from his sin, and for him to love her and care for her, but after 12 years she can no longer take it and God has Biblically released her from the covenant of marriage.
Over the last 3 years Claudette has scraped and saved every penny she has made from cooking for BFM to “someday” build herself a home so that she can live on her own with her two children Harriel & Jabez. This year her “someday” has come and she has begun to make her own home a reality! It was not even a question whether or not we would help our dear Claudette’s finish her dream home.

Exterior
- Plaster entire exterior of home
- Paint entire exterior of home and front and back gallery (porches)
- Install gallery railing
- Install gallery lights
- Install flood lights
- Complete all exterior plumbing (water in, drain line, septic hookups)
- Install rain gutter and black tank
- Remove all debris and level all ground with sand
Kitchen
- Build, install and paint kitchen, countertops and upper cabinets
- Trim windows
- Install drawers in lower cabinets
- Install sink, faucets.
- Complete plumbing.
- Tile countertops and floor
- Install refrigerator and stove
- Hang curtains for cabinets and windows
Bathroom
- Paint walls and trim windows
- Tile shower and floor
- Install vanity mirror and lights
- Set toilets and complete plumbing.
Bedrooms
- Paint ceiling, walls, and trim windows
- Build bed
- Tile floor
- Hang window curtains
- Install ceiling fan
- Install AC window units
Throughout Home
- Plaster entire interior
- Scrape entire floor
- Sand, stain and install interior doors
- Paint entire interior of house: walls and trim (every dried-in home has reconstructed raw wood ceilings and raw wood and/or concrete walls in desperate need of paint)
- Install electrical outlets, lights, light switches, and cover plates.
Project Challenges
Currently at this stage of her build, the greatest challenge we face are waiting for Claudette to be able to pay for digging a well, digging a septic and paying for all the tile (countertops & floors). She also needs to have the entire exterior of her house plastered and painted. We are so proud of her and her daughter Harriel who are working very hard to pay for these expenses. Once these things are done, we have a container full of donated blessings to fully furnish her home!!!
What is the potential impact for the local community?
HOPE! Still after 6 years there are so many living in terrible conditions, many feel forgotten, some think their unbearable living conditions will never change. When they see BFM assisting Claudette to finish her home, they see hope for themselves. This project will have a positive impact on the community because it will show the Barbudan people that God sees them! He sees their need and has sent help.
